Spirituality and Self

Spirituality is not confined to religion. In fact, religion is merely one of the several mediums explaining spirituality. Spirituality is believed to be an individual's expression of his inner-life reflected through the meaningful contributions he/she makes for the society.

Today, several God-men claiming to spiritually enlighten us in order to transform our life by manipulating with our beliefs, are only trying to bank on our failures and weaknesses. We should understand that spending money on these God-men in the name of spirituality and religion is not going to transform anyones life, rather it is only going to make some undeserving people in the society very powerful.

Real spirituality can be gained from the basic old school lessons such as "honesty is the best policy", "hard work is the key to success" and "service to mankind is service to God", which holds the essence of a spiritual life.

The best spiritual leader for a man is "he himself". No one understands an individual better than the individual himself, thus in order to transform one's life a man must listen to his own self.

Many times in life we do things we don't feel good about, this happens because we do not listen to our own selves, rather we make judgement out of anger, jealousy or greed. If a man learns to listen to himself and acts accordingly, then he will do what is just and his decisions will not be corrupted and partial, and in the long run he will be proud of the decisions he had taken in the past because there will be nothing to hold him back making him feel miserable about. As said in Bhagavad Gita,

"Eternal peace lies near to those controlled ascetics who are free from desire and anger, who have controlled their thoughts and who have realized the self".

A man who has understood self has indeed found Spirituality.
