When Harry met Sally

Publicity stunts are quite popular in India. We often find a model going topless to show her immense support to a sports team or an actor going places in disguise to promote his film. Most of these stunts are harmless page 3 news for a day or two and then everybody forgets about it. Mr Ved Pratap Vaidik's publicity stunt however has made the whole nation worry. His mysterious meeting with Jama'at-ud-Da'wah chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed on 2nd July 2014 in Pakistan, did made him popular, but his inability to explain his sources and the reason to meet Saeed has raised many serious questions. Secondly, Mr Vaidik’s views on Kashmir in an interview given by him in Pakistan were quite unfortunate and out of the line.

Mr Vaidik is a journalist, but nowhere in this disastrous tale of his had he acted like one. He tried to be a superhero and in attempt he rattled the whole nation. India’s new government is trying to make way for peace and strong foreign relationship among its neighbouring nations, and such incidences will only make the situation sticky. I hope that no other such misadventures happen in near future.
